MOP Plays Parima 2011 Discover Jazz Festival www.discoverjazz.com Ahh Jazz Fest.The 2011 Discover Jazz Festival this year has some killer performers grace the festival. I actually have some time this year to check some stuff out, like Poncho Sanchez, dang, that's going to be awesome. Since it is jazz fest time, I want to draw to your attention to the next MOP show happening at Parima Restaurant on June 4, 2011. Kicking of the fest with us we have Wontanara and Tom Clearly opening for Movement of the People at 10PM. This show may well sell out, so get a spot early. Hope to see you all at the show! G

Movement of the People Fela Kuti Tribute Band www.movementofthepeoplevt.com I hope everyone is well as the days get longer, bringing us that much closer to summer in VT. As that time approaches I want to give all of you an early heads up on some crucial shows coming up. I have assumed the position of booking Movement of the People: Fela Kuti Tribute Band. Being that the band is so large and everyone involved are part of other giggin' crews, MOP will be performing a limited amount of shows this year, so make sure to come out and hear the best kept secret in Vermont. Our debut show for 2011 will be at Positive Pie on April 9th, 2011, 10PM start. Also there are two other shows in the books that you all should be aware of. On June 6th, making an appearance for the 2011 Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington, VT, MOP will perform at Parima Thai Restaurant. Not to be missed. MOP will also be performing at Vermonts up and coming summer festival in New England, The Manifestivus. The official dates set for the festival are July 22-23. Oberon Gig Canceled The Buzz Kill I regretfully announce that MOP WILL NOT be performing at the Oberon club in Boston on January 20th, 2011. Due to lack of funding and proper motivation, the club had to withdraw the offer. But the door is open and having this opportunity will defo get us down there in the future. Personally, I am really disappointed and was really looking forward to playing with MOP, getting out a town for a night and having a blast, while spreading the music beyond Vermont. My apologies to those who were going to make the effort to come down. Shit happens, right? Better luck next time! G Money

MOP Goes to Boston! UHURU AFRIKA JUMP! www.cluboberon.com I am real stoked to announce that Movement of the People: Fela Kuti Tribute Band will be performing live at The Oberon, Boston, MA on January 20th, 2010. Apparently every month they hold an event called UHURU AFRIKA JUMP! Featuring music from around the world. Our percussionist, Dillon Zahner, somehow lined up this awesome gig and now its a happening. I hope everyone who reads this buys a ticket and comes down to the best show Boston has ever seen! Love!

New Years Eve 2010 Oh How The Time Flies Wow. How the time doth fly? Man where did the time go? Shit. It's already Christmas past Thanksgiving. Where have I been? I think you all know what I mean. You blink and a week went by. Well, I been around. Getting that paper. Doing a bunch of web and design work. I've been quite busy doing other web things, leaving little energy to do my own at times. I jumped on my site today and looked at the last entry date and laughed, its been a minute. My apologies. Any way I want to shout out Happy Holidays to everyone and may you spend it with the loveliest in your life. Things have been chill on the gig front but, a bunch of cool things are on the books. Tomorrow night I'll have the pleasure of performing in a trio setting with Dave Grippo with Max Bronstein and I @ The Marriott in Burlington,VT - 8pm. Oh the big New Years. How they go flipping by. I've realized its all about the crew of people that make the New Year fun, rather than the place. For First Night this year I have the pleasure of performing with Gordon Stone, as well as Grippo and Gabe Jarrett. Really looking forward to that. It takes place at the Contois Auditorium in Burlington, VT, 7:30 pm start. And to bring in the new year I jet down the Black Door in Montpelier, VT to perform with the Dave Keller Blues Band. After not playing for a few week or so, I'm itching to rock again.

NYC Baby! Fela on Broadway www.eugene-oneill-theater.com My lady and I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing the Broadway musical FELA! A musical based on his incredible life and struggle. It was awesome and I recommend all that visit the city to check it out. I am privileged to be turned on to his music let alone being a part of Movement of the People: Fela Kuti Tribute Band right here in little ol' Vermont. Central VT is lucky to have such an incredible band that pays tribute to Fela's music just as hard, if not harder than those boys doing the Broadway show, which members include cats from Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. But the show was awesome. The image below is from my iPhone as I was walking into the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Sure enough as I was posting this blog from my mighty iPhone .... it died. Birthday Weekend Grippo, Grace, Keller What up crew? Hope everyone landing on this page is real well and killin' the game of life! It's my birthday weekend. On the 5th of September, 33 years ago, this dude came on out. And I'm real thankful for the good life I've had thus far, and there's much more to come. But back to the weekend at hand. Bunch of shows: Friday, The Marriot @ 8pm with "The Truth" Dave Grippo. Saturday Playing the home town at Langdon St. Cafe with Sara Grace & The Suits, 9pm. And on the 5th, Sunday I will be performing with the Dave Keller Blues Band at Loon Mt. Ski Resort in Lincoln, NH. Then I'm off to upstate NY to hang with my lady and my folks on the lake for a couple of days, kick back for my B-Day. Happy Labor Weekend everyone!

Weekend of Music Bunch of Shows Going Down Jumping in for a minute! Been getting that dunny. Hope everyone is well. Wanting to let you know that there are some killer shows I have the privilege of being a part. Tonight at the On Tap Bar in Essex Junction, VT, The Dave Keller Blues Band will hit at 7pm. Friday the 13th, Nectars, 9:30pm, The Jen Hartswick Band with Nick Cassarino, Josh Cassarino, Rob Marscher and myself. Soul, Funk, Jazz. It's going to be sick. On Saturday a double header. The Scott Graves Band hits around 4pm and later that evening around 7pm Movement of the People: Fela Kuti Tribute Band Its been all summer since MOP performed and this fest is known to be a blast. Dave Keller Band New Project www.davekeller.com Man, Its been a minute! I've been caught up doing web work and other work that I haven't even made an entry in over a month. So lame. Although my calendar is up to date I will try to post upcoming shows on the blog! I am glad that web work is coming through but I am also pleased to announce and quite grateful to join a new crew: The Dave Keller Blues Band. I've sit in with the crew before, but I was asked to be the bassman a couple of weeks ago and it's been great. We've had a couple gigs and they have been a blast. Thanks Dave. Thanks crew. Glad to be a part! Keep a look out! Would also like to take this moment to let you know some upcoming shows and events. This weekend I have the pleasure of performing with Dave Grippo on the 9th and with Bruce Sklar on the 10th. Check out the calendar for details. Discover Burlington Jazz Festival June 4th - 13th, 2010 www.discoverjazz.com The 2010 Jazz Fest in Burlington, Vermont. What a good time. Sonny Rollins. Arturo Sandoval. What? I hope to catch some bigger shows. But I am honored to playing in some familiar crews as well as some not so familiar crews. Costa Rica Images Set 1 Rio Toro \| La Fortuna, Costa Rica www.jbobfunky.com/jbf_2009/photo.php These images were taken by Jairo, a kayaker on the run hired to take our pictures. He was a killer boater. He would go down the river, set up on the major rapids and capture the images. Although these images are of the best two rapids, the run was long with total of 47 rapids total. This is the first set of images I have managed to get together. Stay tuned for Set 2. Enjoy!

It was definitely a highlight for me and the night for that matter. Thank you guys so much. Another highlight was meeting and hearing Karl Denson, and his crew. Those boys have been a huge influence on my music and bass playing in so many ways. I've been a fan for years and love that crew. Thank you Karl Denson and the Tiny Universe band.
